Cultural comparison by music

Posted in: 80s, Austropop / German pop, Ping.fm, Uncategorized

Austrian German and German German are significantly different in pronunciation. The written stile is normed but the country itselves have a slightly different mentality.

By taking a look at music videos from the 80s I have found for everyone, who was wondering what is the mysterious difference in language an interesting comparison.

The top video is the original song from Peter Cornelius called “Du entschuldige i kenn di” from 1982. He is an Austro Pop singer.

Below you can find the same song with the same text, but “re germanized”, because people used to have problems in understanding the text and the dialect. It is exactly the same wording and content by copycat Bernhard Brink.

For sure the original one is the better on. Or what do you think?

Martin
